I was blown away this evening watching Secretariat, and even more stirred by its theme song, It’s Who You Are, sung by AJ Michalka and written by Randall Wallace. What hit me wasn’t just the beauty of the film or the power of the music — it was the unmistakable thread of God’s fingerprints woven through the whole story.
Because Secretariat is more than a movie about horse racing. It’s a reminder that the roots of success aren’t found in talent alone, but in the God‑given identity placed inside each of us. It’s about running the race set before you with courage, conviction, and the quiet confidence that comes from knowing Who designed your path.

And the theme song echoes that truth: real victory begins with knowing who you are in Christ, and Whose strength carries you forward.

I think Randall Wallace’s words resonate with me so deeply because they point us back to what truly matters. “It’s never how much you have, it’s who you are.” That line carries a truth the world often forgets — a truth God has been reminding us of since the beginning.

I was amazed to learn that Randall Wallace — the songwriter behind It’s Who You Are — also directed Secretariat. And to my surprise, he’s the same writer who penned the screenplay for one of my all‑time favorite films, Braveheart. It’s incredible how God weaves talent through different stories and seasons, using the same creative voice to inspire us in ways we never expect.
