Becoming a healthy eater required me to become both educated and smart about what healthy eating actually is.
Being food smart isn’t about learning to calculate grams or fat, or is it about studying labels and counting calories. However, those things are important if you’re going to know WHAT you’re eating.
Healthy eating is all about balanced and moderate eating. Healthy eaters eat many different types of foods, not limiting themselves to one specific food type or food group.
I’ve never really understood or agree with those who believe in restricting food in any way. Besides providing nutrition, food should always be enjoyable… it should taste good. God gave us all these wonderful foods to eat and I’m thankful for His blessings.
Healthy eating is a way of life. Instead of blindly eating anything around you, perhaps it’s better to blend your diet with other parts of your life as well… doing things that enhance your body and your lifestyle.
Eating healthy requires quite a bit of leeway though. I sometimes might eat too much or not enough, consume foods that are sometimes more or less nutritious. However, I always try to fuel my body and brain regularly with enough food to keep both your mind and body strong and alert.
Healthy eaters need to also be a good problem solver. You need to learn how to take care of yourself and eating with sound judgement and making wise decisions. Healthy eaters are always aware of what they eat, and know the effect that it will have on their bodies.
Those who suffer diabetes knows this well. Taking regular blood sugar readings help you keep abreast of what foods cause your sugar to spike and what foods keep your blood sugar to more healthy levels.
If you’ve thought about making your life better, healthy eating is just the place to start. You’ll make life easier for yourself, those around you, and even your family.
