Visited the Mount Gay Rum distillery in July 2018 when accompanying my brother on a pet sitting gig in Holetown Barbados and took the Rum Tasting Tour.
There are other rums made on the island, but Mount Gay is the oldest and most prominent.
Mount Gay Rum is produced by Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd. of Barbados, the easternmost island of the West Indies. The oldest surviving deed for the company is from 1703, making Mount Gay Rum the world’s oldest commercial rum distillery.
If you visit I recommend taking one of the “tasting” tours as you’ll get the opportunity to taste a variety of the rums they produce.
Ride along in this video as we drive from Holetown, Barbados to the Mount Gay Rum Distillery in Bridgetown. It’s about a 16 minute drive as we pass by Sandy Lane (island home of Rihanna), Paynes Bay, Fitts Village, Brighton Beach, and Brandons Beach.
