The Northern Flicker is of the Woodpecker family. Adults are brown with black bars on the back and wings. A mid- to large-sized northern flicker measures 11–14 in in length and 17–21 in in wingspan.
I don’t see this bird very often but spotted this Woodpecker atop the telephone pole at the back of my yard.
This bird doesn’t come around a lot but woodpeckers are always welcome around my yard. I have not seen any visit my feeders but one did stop by for a quick drink of water.
