English Springer Spaniels are typically pretty active dogs. When not active, Trixie could be pretty laid back. She would sometimes jump up in my recliner for a quick nap. When I came into the room to sit, she would jump down.
In typical fashion Trixie always wanted to be near me so when I moved from one room to another, she would generally follow me and sit patiently.
Trixie was as comfortable outdoors as indoors.
When I would sit out on my back porch, Trixie would follow me out and after looking around a bit, would settle down and wait for my next move.
As Trixie aged she became much less active and spent a lot of time sleeping. That was one of the sadder parts after she became blind. Since getting around meant bumping into things and running outdoors seemed out of the question, she would rather lay down and sleep.
Trixie would often lay at the back door watching for any activity in the yard. Squirrels were a familiar sight and when one would encroach on the back porch, she would let them know to steer clear.
Never wanting to miss an opportunity to go outdoors and play, if I opened the door to go outside, she would perk up and excitedly follow me out.
When working in my home office, Trixie always wanted to be close.
Trixie also liked laying on her soft pillows next to the front door beneath a small table. It was the perfect spot where she could keep an eye on me while working in my home office. Was it the covering above her that made this appealing or was it just the pillows? I don’t know, however, she spent a lot of time laying down there. At night, she would leave that spot and join me at the foot of my bed. I had to be careful when she was sleeping in my bed not to kick her or disturb her with my feet. She would growl when I did.
One of her favorite spots in the office would be to lie in the foot well of my desk. She would sometimes fall asleep with her head on my foot. I had to be careful not to disturb her.

I had trained Trixie to use a crate when she was a puppy and she continued to find comfort in her crate even into adulthood. I did have to eventually re-purpose the crate when I began fostering dogs for the Humane Society.
